Self-Portrait
"Inquisitive" should actually have been my middle name from childhood. Since I was a toddler, I was always mischievous and often got myself into "hot water" because of my creative nature. Everyone including myself was surprised when I began studying singing.

Focused and hard working, within a year I was a member of the Norwegian Opera Company under the direction of Kirsten Flagstad, who later became my mentor. I was soon fortunate to receive DET STORE STAT'S STIPEND (the largest government stipend in Norway) with the stipulation: "Ode, no progress, no scholarship." I took heed and was a recipient four years in a row at the Academy of Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna.
Fresh out of Vienna, the European Concert Circuit was a wide-open field with new exciting challenges. Somehow within, I knew I could handle that which I had always yearned |
